Consider/Approve Paper Bid for the 2017 – 2018 School Year

Background Information:

In addition to advertising, we solicited bids from Premier Paper, Liberty Paper, Lanzer, Inc., Howard D. Happy Co., Contract Paper Group, Inc., American Paper & Twine, J D Distributors, and Staples for the purchase of duplicating paper (11,000 reams, specifications attached), which will be budgeted in the General Purpose School Fund for the 2017 – 2018 fiscal year. We received bids for this purchase as follows:

Premier Paper – $24,035
American Paper and Twine – $24,200
Contract Paper Group– $25,267
JD Distributors – $26,180
Howard D. Happy – $25,740

This year’s bids were competitive with Premier Paper submitting the low bid that met all bid specifications.

Staff Recommendation:

I recommend approval of the low bid meeting all specifications as submitted by Premier Paper. With this approval, it is the intent of the Board and management that no liability will be incurred, nor a purchase order issued, until the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2017.
