Consider/Approve Paper Bid for the 2012 – 2013 School Year

Background Information:

In addition to advertising, we solicited bids from Liberty Paper, Lanzer’s Office Supply, R. J. Young, Howard D. Happy Co., Contract Paper Group, Office Services, Learning House, America Paper & Twine, and JD Distributors for the purchase of duplicating paper (8,800 reams, specifications attached), which will be budgeted in the General Purpose School Fund for the 2012 – 2013 fiscal year. We received bids for this purchase as follows:

America Paper & Twine – $22,264.00
Contract Paper Group – $22,589.60
Howard D. Happy – $25,080.00 (bid good through June 30, 2012)
JD Distributors – $25.828.00
Lanzer’s – $22,792.00
Liberty Paper – $22,572.00

This year’s bids were very competitive with America Paper & Twine of Memphis, TN submitting the low bid.

Staff Recommendation:

I recommend approval of the low bid meeting all specifications as submitted by America Paper & Twine. With this approval, it is the intent of the Board and management that no liability will be incurred, nor a purchase order issued, until the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2012.
