Consider/Approve Table Bid for Ridgemont Elementary School Cafeteria

Background Information:

In addition to advertising, we solicited bids for the purchase of twenty (20) cafeteria tables (specifications attached) for the Ridgemont Elementary School Cafeteria.  Funds are available for this purchase within the Central Cafeteria Fund budget for the current fiscal year as previously approved by the Board. We received bids from four (4) companies, which are summarized on the bid request tally sheet. Individual bids were as follows:

ATD – American Company – $21,329.60
Virco, Inc. – $21,334.80
MISSCO Contract Sales/Amtab – $16,920.00*
Lanzer’s Printing & Office Supply – $35,680.00

The low bid, as specified above*, does not appear to meet the minimum specifications. The bid specified a Krueger International Model table or equivalent. The frames of the specification indicate 11-gauge channel steel. The table specifications bid by MISSCO Contract Sales/Amtab indicate 14-gauge steel. In our judgment, this is not equivalent to the specifications bid.

The low bid meeting all specifications, including delivery and installation, was submitted by ATD – American Company in the amount of $21,329.60.

Staff Recommendation:

I recommend approval of the low bid meeting all specifications as submitted by ATD – American Company in the amount of $21,329.60.
