Consider/Approve Central Cafeteria Food and Non-Food Item Bids

Background Information:

In addition to advertising, the Reelfoot Area Consortium solicited bids from Hardin’s-Sysco, U. S. Foodservice, and Performance Food Group (PFG) for the purchase of food and non-food items. The specifications are attached for your information. All of these items are for the second semester of the 2010 – 2011 school year and funds are budgeted in the FY11 Central Cafeteria Fund as approved by the Board for these purchases. The Consortium received bids from Hardin’s-Sysco ($1,132,047) and U.S. Foodservice ($1,177,378.65) and determined that the low bids were submitted by Hardin’s-Sysco.

The consortium approved the low bid submitted as noted above; however, each individual school board must accept the bids. For the first semester of the 2010 – 2011 school year, U.S. Foodservice was awarded the bid indicating strong competition for the consortium’s business.

Staff Recommendation:

I concur with the recommendations set forth by the Consortium and Ms. Judy Denman and recommend approval of the bid submitted Hardin’s-Sysco.
